Nickole's Acceptance Speech

Good Afternoon. Thank you for this honor.

I won this award in the technology category, not because I'm a technology expert, but because I am able to use the World Wide Web to share my experiences with others all over the world. And others can share their experiences, ideas, fears and concerns with me. My web page is a living example of how one person can make a difference - if I can do it, you can do it.

I was able to participate in an on-line international forum where 1000 children around the world talked about world problems. Just Thursday did I get to meet Jason Dean Crowe after working with him for 1 1/2 years on-line. Those of us that have received The Global Youth Peace and Tolerance Awards will continue our friendships through the Internet. The power of the Internet is these relationships.

I was unable to attend the Global Hague Appeal for Peace last May. But my artwork, "The World On A Bed of Flowers" did - because of the power of the Internet. Universal access is the key to making universal tolerance work. Help us make universal access a reality. Help us make The World On A Bed of Flowers.

The images and the captions for that world are on the Web. The captions read:

The World On A Bed of Flowers

This is how we want our world to look!

Imagine a world of Fun

Imagine a world of Joy

Imagine a world of Love

Imagine a world of Harmony

Imagine a world of Happiness

Imagine a world of Peace

I dedicated this work to all the participants of Junior Summit 98 and children world wide, who are making the world a better place to live. I accept this Global Youth Peace and Tolerance Award on behalf of all those who are making the world a better place to live.

I wish to tank the DaCapo Foundation, Children Uniting Nations, Friends of the United Nations, One Day Foundation and my family and friends.

I would like to especially thank my Mother for all of her support and love.
